About Us:
I, Barb Sherwin, launched LegalJobSeeker.com at the end of 2007.
I'm a previous Law.com employee which was based out of Phoenix, AZ. I was hired as an Account Executive for the launch of
LawJobs.com & was later promoted to Sales Manager. At that time we were a sister company of AmLaw.
I took great pride in our success & very much enjoyed the excitement of watching a new start-up company grow!
I fell in love with the online work & the Legal Industry. However, Lawjobs was later bought out by AmLaw.
I was offered another position in a different division but chose to work for another legal job board.
That was, shall I say, a very short lived nightmare but a learning experience just the same.
Around the same time several of my family members died back in Illinois. This led to mine & my husbands decision
to move our family back to my hometown of Galesburg, IL. Shortly after moving back, I received a call from a
Manager of Lawjobs asking me to work for them as a remote employee on a special project. That manager later
accepted a position with another company & I was left to work for someone else within the company. Before long
AmLaw was being bought out by the London based company IncisiveMedia. I then left the company & started my own.
Here is some of what I have learned & what I can bring to the table. Most online classified ads or job boards,
the legal industry included, are saturated with too many ads from recruitment agencies. There are only a few
legal recruitment agencies that, dare I say, over do it. I believe Job Seekers will appreciate having a smaller
scaled job board where all the jobs listings for legal professionals are from Direct Employers. In addition, we
can give them a little peace of mind knowing their resumes will only be viewed by Direct Employers.
I know many employers either use recruitment agencies to fill their positions or post their job openings on
the career sections of their websites. For this I have created the Legal Employment Directory so active job seekers
can have a single location to research other job postings that aren't listed on our job board.
I believe a job seeker should never have to pay to find employment. So all services we offer you is FREE.
My experience with resume databases is that very few direct employers use them. So what I have done to attract
employers to your resume is create the Preview Legal Resumes section. Here I put just enough information to
be able to market & let employers know we are attracting the candidates with a legal background that they
are looking for. So please POST YOUR RESUME!
I know how to build a database driven website. More importantly , I know how to properly market a job board.
LegalJobSeeker.com is already getting thousands of unique visitors
every month! We are still growing & with your help we will continue to grow!
